For some time, the Village of Tijeras Mayor and Council have developed processes for requests to build homes, requests to be included as a business, community project requests, etc. The following gives some information about those processes and ordinances.

IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION II OF THE TIJERAS ZONING ORDINANCE - NO BUILDING OR STRUCTURE SHALL BE ERECTED, IMPROVEMENTS CONSTRUCTED, NO EARTH,TREES, FLOOD WAYS, OR ARROYOS SHALL BE MATERIALLY DISTURBED, NOR MOBILE HOME INSTALLED UPON ANY PREMISES WITHIN THE VILLAGE WITHOUT BEING REVIEWED BY THE ZONING COMMISSION.

The Planning & Zoning Commissioners meet on the first and third Monday of the month. If a holiday falls on a Monday then the meeting will be on Tuesday. The meetings are held at 6 pm in the Village Chambers. The “What’s New” link gives you access to the v-post and calendar of exact dates and times for the month.

Any Resident or Business that wishes to attend a P&Z Hearing needs to complete an Administrative Review and return to the Village Clerk by 12:00 PM the Wednesday before the hearing. Applications expire one year from date of approval. Please see attached for more information about fees and documents that need to be provided with every application.
